Adding annuals to your spring landscaping!

Blog Contributed by Stephen McClain

We are so close to spring that we can almost taste it! Planting Annuals now can bring spring to you a little early and will result in colorful, early spring blooms. We don’t know about you – but we are very excited to begin planting them! The best part about annual flowers is that there are several varieties to choose from. Annuals make for remarkable transitional plants and can easily transition your lawn from dull and brown to bright and cheery!

Some of our favorite annuals are pansies, lilacs and winter jasmine. Each of these annuals bloom in a variety of colors and each can brighten your lawn! Pansies are annuals that can withstand many different weather conditions and are a great plant for the early spring season. Pansies bloom in a variety of colors; adding pansies is the perfect way to personalize your spring landscaping the way you want to.

Lilacs are another radiant plant you can install in your spring landscaping. Lilacs are known for their sweet fragrance; their aromatic scent will add a sweet touch to your spring landscaping! Along with their sweet scent, lilacs come in all sizes. You can plant lilacs that are the size of dwarf shrubs, or you can choose to install a tall lilac tree. Lilacs are a great way to make your spring landscaping pop with color and fragrance!

Lastly, consider adding Winter Jasmine to your landscaping. Winter Jasmine, although it has winter in the name, is a plant that blooms beautifully in the early spring. Winter Jasmine is great for mass planting and can fill any empty area with a splash of color. They are great for adding color to sloped spaces or even to vacant exterior walls.
