Try eastern redbud for national plant a flower day

Each year on March 12th,  we celebrate National Plant a Flower Day! This day usually marks the beginning of the spring planting season and the day most people begin tilling their garden plots. What better way to bring in spring than by planting something colorful?

Anyone can celebrate the day, even if you don’t have a large outdoor space. Potted plants are great indoors, and containers work well in entryways and outdoor spaces.

Here are some quick tips.:

  • Select plants that grow well in your desired space. Some plants grow well in shade and others prefer sun. While others love both!
  • Perennial beds should be thinned every couple of years.
  • Local greenhouses stock plants that grow well in your area. Don’t be afraid to ask them questions and shop there frequently. Likewise, Great Estates Landscaping can make experts about plants for your property. Contact us today for a free consultation.

And, may we recommend adding our plant of the month, the Eastern Redbud. Eastern Redbud’s mauve-pink blooms and heart-shaped leaves are simply spectacular. These trees are extremely easy to care for and can thrive in almost any environment. The Eastern Redbud also makes a great border for your garden. Or, you can add one to your front yard as a centerpiece tree. Now, there’s an excellent way to celebrate National Plant a Flower Day!
