Add coleus to your spring landscaping

Blog Contributed by Stephen McClain

Spring is in full swing! Spring is our favorite time of year, especially because it means that warm weather is back! Warm weather, of course, brings endless possibilities of plants to add to your landscaping, such as one of our favorites – Coleus. Coleus is a beautiful bush that is perfect for any lawn.

This plant has made our featured plants list this month because of its bright foliage colors. Coleus comes in a variety of leaf sizes, leaf shapes and leaf colors. As you watch a Coleus plant grow you may find color combinations of green, yellow, pink, red and even maroon. The variety of Coleus is not even the best part of the plant – it’s extremely easy to grow!

Anyone can easily incorporate Coleus into their landscaping. It is a great plant to add to garden beds, borders around your home or garden or even in a container. The one thing to keep in mind as you add Coleus to your landscaping is that it needs fertile, well-draining soil to grow the best in. It is also important to remember that it will usually grow the best in partial-shade areas, however it can tolerate sun.

When thinking about which plants to add to your landscaping, be sure to consider Coleus. Not only is it easy for anyone to grow, it will add a variety of texture and color to your landscaping that not many other plants could bring to your yard.
