1.       It’s Easy Being Green

One of the biggest color trends for this year is green, green, and more green! The kaleidoscopic rainbow hued gardens of 2016 seem to be old news when you compare to the greenscapes and rich natural hues we are seeing so far this year. Pantone even named Greenery to be their Color of the Year selection for 2017! So, if you’re wanting to bring some more flora into your landscape design, keep things simple this season and go green.

2.       Add Variety to Your Hardscapes [Patios, Walkways, etc.]

The other big rule to abide by for landscape trends this summer is to make your hardscape materials “anything but uniform.” This simply means to switch things up in your landscape design by mixing materials like pebble paths, stone pavers, and wood decks to create the most comfortable outdoor space, with purpose. Not only does a hardscape installation create a nicer, safer space to enjoy outside, but pavers are actually a whopping four times stronger than concrete! Although concrete is composed of one thick slab, the joints inbetween concrete pavers, combined with the solid aggregate base below, provide extra strength to the whole structure.

3.       The Birds and the Bees

No, we aren’t talking about your elementary school lesson. Native plants (that inspire pollinators like birds, bees, and  butterflies) are continuing to gain popularity with homeowners this year. One of our favorite flowers for May is the beautiful Black Eyed Susan. Black Eyed Susans are a great way to add a little color and interest to your garden, and are also a great choice for those for those wishing to attract bees, butterflies and other pollinators. Admired for their extended bloom time from June to September, Black Eyed Susans make a great choice for spring plantings because they require little maintenance, are tough enough to tolerate both moist and dry conditions [which is great for the Georgia climate], and also aid in preventing soil erosion.

With these three landscape trends to try, you’re sure to have the best greenspace in the neighborhood this summer. And if you are interested in changing up your landscape design to incorporate live plantings or a hardscape installation, then contact us today!
